North Bay: Residents in Tiburon, Mill Valley and Vallejo are in for a misty Saturday morning as steam fog from San Pablo Bay spills into the valleys and delta through 11 a.m. Clearer skies and warmer air south of San Mateo along I-280 and Highway 101 will keep daytime temperatures closer to the mid-60s in Menlo Park, Redwood City and Atherton. Residents in Daly City, Millbrae and San Bruno should expect daytime highs in the 60s. The constant flow of fog and drizzle on Saturday afternoon will occasionally spill into the San Bruno Gap and parts of the bayshore facing San Francisco International Airport. Pacific Coast and Peninsula: A shallow but persistent marine layer will make for a mix of clouds and mist on Saturday for residents along Highway 1 between Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. that will cause temperatures to fall back to the lower 60s and high fog to spread east into downtown and SoMa by Saturday evening. The majority of all that cloud cover will retreat west of Sutro Tower in the afternoon where some occasional bouts of drizzle will persist along the Great Highway.ĭaytime highs in the Sunset, Richmond and Lake Merced neighborhoods will reach the lower 60s Saturday thanks to all the cloud cover and mist, while residents east of Sutro Tower can expect milder afternoons with highs in the mid-60s - even a few upper 60s around Dolores Park. San Francisco: The ebb and flow of the marine layer will drive most of Saturday’s weather pattern, with models forecasting high fog across most of the city through 11 a.m.

So, expect a mostly cloudy Saturday afternoon with occasional breaks in the clouds across most of the Bay Area as a combination of steam fog by the water and high fog inland make for a textbook case of May Gray. Sunshine will struggle to burn off most of the cloud cover in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano counties, leading to a cool Saturday afternoon in the inland valleys with highs just barely making it above 70 in cities that just this past weekend were grappling with 90-degree heat. And like a glass of water spilling on a table, the high fog will begin spreading in all directions on Saturday as it flows into the San Ramon and Livermore valleys. Some of this high fog will likely head east of the Oakland and Berkeley hills.
